The fifth round of the Rock Oil XC Championship was at Brake Hill Farm near Kettering, which has a mix of MX track and plenty of woodland.

Thanks to the rain on Saturday, track conditions were near perfect for Sunday's three races to go ahead as planned.

As with all Fast Eddy events, the course was fast and flowing, especially around the MX sections, dotted with whoops and uphill jumps, suddenly turning into wooded sections that were lacking in grip in places initially. A full range of skills was called for in all three races.

The Youth race witnessed a great battle between Henry Yardley and Harry Edmondson, a battle Harry is used to winning, but not on this occasion.

Both riders lead the race a times, both pushing each other to the limit until Harry hit a tree and had to slow down, he entered the pits after the incident but was soon on his way again following words of encouragement from his dad, Fast Eddy.

Henry Yardley rode magnificently and was the worthy winner, Harry struggled onwards to take second place both overall and in the BW85-150 class.

Both riders were a lap ahead of Callum Sedgwick who finished third overall and third in class.

Cole Cookland's SW85 was singing as he powered around the course at the head of his class with Charlie Chater just seconds behind him.

George Yardley made the top three in the SW85's and picked up seventh overall.

Adam James had the 65s firmly under control and took the win with a lap to spare over second placed Keelan Hope and third placed Cory Cookland.

At 11am the first adult race got underway and the season-long battle between Max Ditchfield, Jacob James and Ethan Pugh resumed once again as they were first off the start line in the Youth 13-16 class.

JJ got the jump and powered away but Ditchy was in hot pursuit within seconds, a battle that continued at the head of the race for a further 14 laps until JJ hit a tree and was forced to retire.

Ditchy had taken the lead a while before but JJ kept the pressure on and once that pressure was removed, his way was clear all the way to the finish flag.

Ethan Pugh lost a few minutes but took second in the Youth 13-16 class.
