The BSMA Doodson Motorsport National Series was very successful right up to the final round to be hosted by the Coventry Club last weekend at the famous Foxhill circuit, with a bumper entry as expected all was set for a great series finale. However, severe weather during the weeks leading up to the event resulted in flooding which resulted in the unfortunate cancellation of the event.

The overall results will stand as they were issued following the Landrake round held recently.

The presentation of trophies and monies will take place at a suitable venue with notification placed in the BSMA's next TMX advert and on the BSMA website.

For 2011 the series dates will be looked at to avoid some of the date clashes that unfortunately occurred this year.

The Open class was a year-long battle between Ashley Thomas and Arron Jenner with the Cotswold star taking the overall. Charlie Heatley battled hard to gain third from Graham Lamb with Scott Bates back from injury to finish the series strongly.

AMX Paul Willis was always competitive while only riding a 125cc had a clear margin of victory from the improving Rhys Thomas. Although taking 14 wins the star of the group, Carl Jones, could only finish third with fourth going to Stuart Keen.

The Senior 144cc/250cc Champion Shaun Springer led the group from race one with the fast starting Jordan Divall always in contention but too many mistakes cost him the overall. These two riders finished well clear of the field in the most competitive group in the series. Luke Newman finished a safe third with Harry Selwood getting the better of Damon Brooks and Lloyd Pettett.

Senior 125cc Chambers Wittle dominated the group with Chase Neal, Simon Booth and Callum Sloman always in the mix and battling for the remaining podium positions.

Big-wheel 85cc Champion Liam Garland won 23 out of 25 races and was a pleasure to watch and will undoubtedly be a threat in next year's Senior championship. Jordan Batchelor was rarely outside the top three and deserved his runner up spot with Kieran Gregory claiming third from Rob Holyoake. Despite battles with Garland, Jack Gardner finished fifth having missed round two of the series.

Small-wheel 85cc pilot Danny Lanfear, despite starting with some poor results, got his season on track to win 20 races and claim the overall. William Wall started well winning the opening round but tailed off as the season progressed. A consistent Jamie Carpenter took runner up overall from Michael Ellis and Luke Craig.

The Junior group although the smallest in registered riders made for some very interesting racing. Albie Wilkie dominated the early rounds rode carefully at Rhayader but was back to his best at Landrake. Always quick and smooth ensured second place went to Taylor Hammal with the final podium place going to Alex Walton.

The BSMA Doodson Motorsport National Finals were held at the superbly prepared Culham Park in Oxfordshire.

Despite the excellent work put in by Neil Irwin and his team a tremendous downpour necessitated the early conclusion of racing on day one and despite reports to the contrary on some websites the meeting was not abandoned, and as a result of some tremendous effort by Neil and his team from 5.30am on the Sunday morning, a full programme of racing took place on the second day with racing completed by about 4.30pm.

The Juniors were first on track with the group dominated by maximum man Alex Walton from the Rhayader club who coped admirably with the poor conditions on day one and was only headed once by Dylan Woodcock from the East Anglia club who recorded a race card of second places with both riders well clear of the chasing pack. There was some excellent racing behind with consistent Owen Woodhouse taking third from Jayden Murphy.

Small-wheel 85cc Champion Robert Gates of the Cotswold Club claimed the overall with a consistent weekend of racing by only two points from Portsmouth star Josh Coleman. Cotswold rider Danny Lanfear and Josh Coleman shootout took place in heat one with Lanfear taking a well deserved hard fought win. Heat two looked the same until a crash by Lanfear put him out of the running. The heat went to Coleman who now looked favourite from Joe Jefferies of Ringwood. However two heat wins from Yates turned the tables in his favour despite tremendous pressure from Coleman and Jefferies. The final heat went to a recovered Lanfear with Robert Yates riding a sensible race to secure the overall result. A poor final two races by Jefferies took him out of contention for the overall but still did enough to claim the final spot on the podium.

The Big-wheel 85cc Championship looked to be heading the way of Liam Garland, following his opening three wins but luck was not on his side when exhaust problems meant he was shown the black flag in heat four. Consistency paid rewards for Jack Gardener of the Cotswold club who went through the weekend never finishing lower than third and Jordan Bachelor of the Portsmouth Club who had a solid weekend to claim the top two spots overall. An unlucky Garland was left to claim the final spot on the podium with only four scoring rides.

The Senior group could have been won by any one of three riders with heat wins shared between Dan Thornhill, Rob Muscatt and Jordan Divall. The overall went to Muscat of the Portsmouth club with only one win but was able to back it up with all second places while Divall of the East Kent club took two wins but was only able to bolster his scores with third places. The final podium spot was taken by a consistent Oliver Paine of the Rhayader club. An unlucky Thornhill took fourth with Harry Sellwood, South West, and Jack Timms, Cotswold, rounding out the top six.

The AMX group was a real battle with Warley Wasps rider Dan Jagielski setting a fantastic pace from the gate with Corsham rider Nick Shepard in close attention. It was not long before the stars of the show closed in with Arron Jenner, East Kent, and Lewis Abbott, Ringwood passing to claim the two top spots. The top two traded wins with Nick Sheppards fine ride in heat four to get the better of Abbott putting pay to any hopes of a last race decider. Jenner rode a mature final heat to follow Abbott home to make sure of the overall win form Abbott by four points.

The final group of the programme was the Open group which promised some exciting racing and we were not disappointed. Although with four wins and a second it may have seemed easy for Ashley Thomas of the Cotswold club it was anything but. An exciting ride from Adam Cook also of the Cotswold Club kept Thomas honest in his endeavour but a crash with Thomas in heat four allowed Dominic Foreman, Corsham, to claim the remaining heat win and second overall from Cook on count back.

The Annual Girls National was held at Marshfield by the Moredon Club under the guidance of Mark and Emma Hucklebridge.

The Irish Ace Natalie Kane was a maximum winner with Kerry Wilson also claimig a full house of second places well clear of the battle between Danielle Hipgrave and Alix Dunlop.

Seniors saw Kayleigh Dunston also took a maximum despite the close attention of second place Leonie Smith. Gabbi Hamlett just getting the better of Billie Dunlop to claim third.

The Big-wheel 85cc also saw another maximum winner in Danni Marsh with Chelsea Gowland getting the better of Ellie Caines and Catherine King.

The Small-wheel 85cc group was won by Dutch star Nancy Van de Ven again with a maximum but was made to work hard by Jorga Johnson and Elaine Maceachern who were well clear of the reminder. The Juniors was a two-horse race with Hannah Pickergill chased home in every race by Amy Mannings. The Autos were dominated by Ciara Robertson with Emily Linford second.
