Karro at the double

MVR-D Suzuki's Mattis Karro took a superb double win at the third round of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross MX2 Championship at Brampton in Cumbria.
Mattis Karro, who hasn't raced here before, had a lead of over 11secsduring race one. The hard charging Jake Nicholls on the Team KTM UKbike did his utmost to reel in the young Latvian and managed to getwithin 4.090secs of him but the chequered flag appeared and he had tosettle for second.
Third place went to Stephen Sword on the Red Bull KTM UK machine whohad held second place until a near crash on lap three allowed Nichollsto close in and pass him.
Race two was a similar affair with Karro storming into the lead as soonas the gate dropped. This time it was Sword who was pursuing withNicholls having to take third place.
The two podium finishes where sufficient for Sword to extend hisChampionship lead and gained the red plate. He is now 16 points aheadof Karro as the Championship heads to Hawkstone Park on the 14th June.
Nicholls said: "It is all coming together now; I had a good winter'straining and started the season injury free. I'm also getting to gripswith the KTM now too. I'm taking my time and not rushing things as thatis what I was doing before and that is also how I got hurt. I rodesteady today and enjoyed it, I kept my head and here I am on thepodium.”
Sword said: "I struggled a little with my start but I'm happy withthe result and to be going away with the red plate. I'm now lookingahead to the next round. There are some good tracks for me now so I'lljust chip away at it and hopefully pick up the title.”
Karro said: "That was a good race and I like the track. I feelreally good. I was ready when the gate dropped and my bike is so fast.It has been an awesome day.”
