King Brad rains!

TWO things are for sure in British motocross, if you want to win any series you need to be able to ride in the mud and it wouldn't be Wales without the wet weather.

Both were in abundance at the final round of thePAR Homes/ Bache's Bargains sponsored Welsh Open Evening MXchampionship! Despite the almost constant rain, 2,000 spectators linedthe wet and wild Rhayader circuit to see if Brad Anderson could be thefirst person to take the Welsh Open championship for the third time.

Jamie Lewis was like ‘white van man' off thetraffic lights as the gates dropped for the opening Expert race. Thefirst corner argy bargy saw Lewis holeshot from Glen Philips and AshleyGreedy, but both lost drive up the second hill and Kip Herring movedinto second place.

However, bad news was on the way for the lead pairas Brad Anderson had moved into third by the close of the opening lap.Predictably, Anderson soon reeled Herring in and he set about takingthe lead from the hard working Lewis.

Anderson almost fell as he took a tight 180 degreeleft hander, almost bringing him to a standstill, but the Yamaha's rearwheel spun into action once more, sending the mud flying into Lewis'sface as it made its escape once more to the chequered flag for theopening victory. Lewis was probably happy to pick up second place, while Ashley Greedy threw caution to the wind and made some late passesto take third from Herring.

Moto two turned out to be the last of the 2007series and the best for Herring. The Yamaha rider was bar to bar withLewis as the pair went sideways through the sweeping first left hander.Herring closed the opening lap with Anderson just a second behind him, though unusually, Anderson could make no move for the lead on thesecond lap.

Opportunity knocked at the third attempt round theRhayader hills though and he slipped past Herring for the lead. Herringstayed with Anderson until the last lap when he backed-off the pace fora safe second place from Jamie Lewis.
