Knight went to El' and back

The rescheduled second round of the Metzeler ACU British Enduro Championship took riders to Elgin in north Scotland last weekend where the Grampian Motorcycle Club put on a memorable event. With two long, rough and sandy special tests and plenty of challenging going the event proved to be anything but easy. Enjoying fine weather during both days, David Knight placed his KTM at the top of the Championship class while countryman Daniel McCanney did the same in the Experts on his Gas Gas. Topping the Clubman class was KTM mounted Gethin Humphreys.

In complete contrast to the weather that caused the postponement of the Lossiemouth Enduro at the beginning of April largely clear skies and dry conditions welcomed riders competing in the 2010 BEC's most northerly event – the Grampian Motorcycle Club organised Lossiemouth Enduro.

With a reputation for being tough, this year's event proved to be just that as Championship class riders were faced with two seven-and-a-half hour days and more than two hours of special test racing. Thankfully, the weekend's weather was better than it was in many other parts of the British isles, and much better than it was the last time the BEC visited Scotland.

As expected it was Manxman David Knight who claimed two commanding overall wins in the Championship class. Clearly at home around the rough, whooped-out, sandy special tests, Knighter topped each of the weekend's special tests to finish all but two minutes ahead on day one and then two minutes clear of his nearest challenger on day two.
