Kwick off The Marque

Crazy as it is, as we are only in May 2012, we have already tested the 2013 KTM off-road range!
And what a test it was! I've said it before and I'll say it again – KTM sure know how to put on a show.
As if flying to Italy midweek for testing isn't enough, it was also good to be joined by my old friend and close rival (we both operate MX tracks at Doncaster) Ed Bradley, from DMP.
After being friends and rivals for more than 20 years, travelling to various tracks and countries competing, it is still great to go riding together.
There are always some ups and downs to testing KTMs every year.
Yes, you know they are going to be a blast to ride, but the model range is just so vast it means you know you will be doing a LOT of riding.
This year, counting the MX and Enduro versions, there was a total of 19 different bikes – and they ALL had to be ridden that day.
Because of the number of models we have once again split the test. This week it is the motocross range – next week I'll delve into the Enduro models.
What you get on the MX side is the tried, trusted and tested 125/150 and 250 two-strokes and all-new 250 and 450 four-strokes plus an updated 350 four-banger.
All models feature classy WP suspension front and rear, while the four-stroke range now relies purely on their electric starts, with the kickstart system now consigned to the dustbin of history – and not before time.
