TAKING a lead from the FIM Ladies Motocross World Cup, and following numerous requests to ACU House, the ACU has announced details of a new British Ladies Motocross Championship, which will take place later in the season.

The Championship will take place on Sunday, September 16, at Howton Court, Pontrilas, which is the day after the final round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship at the same venue, hosted by the Oxford Ixion club.

The title will be decided across three races, with a timed qualifying session also and will be open to 40 MX2 class female riders over the age of 15 only. The meeting is also intended to be inscribed to the UEM, therefore encouraging International competition for the title.

Says Roy Barton, Motocross Manager for the ACU: "In addition to our own Ladies Motocross World Cup competitors, Sophia Paull, Natalie Kane and Nerys Williams, British-based Grand Prix team, Molson Kawasaki, support Katherine Prumm with official works supported machinery, highlighting the increasing number of female competitors getting involved in the sport.

"The ACU already has very successful Trials and Enduro Championship titles specifically for Ladies and have received several enquiries regarding the possibility of a motocross Championship. We felt it was the right time to devote a motocross championship to female riders.”

To ensure the Championship will go ahead the ACU is looking for approximately 40 entries and invite all interested riders aged 15 years and above, riding MX 2 machines to contact the ACU's Motocross Department on 01788-566404/ 566422, or via e-mail moto.cross@acu.org.uk
