Laier wins while injured Lancelot pulls out

TEUTSCHENTHAL (GERMANY), 20 June 2009 Round five of the WMX series started with a dramatic first heat today, as runner up in the Championship Laier won while series leader Lancelot pulled out with a dislocated right shoulder.
In an incredible time practice session Papenmeier wrapped up the poleahead of German compatriot Franke, as both of them clocked exactly thesame laptime with 2 minutes 14.809 seconds. Laier, Kane and Manncompleted the top five while Lancelot ended eighth. The defendingChampion injured her right shoulder last week during training and shecame to Teutschenthal in pain only to try and defend her Championship.
Once the gate dropped and moto one started it was Red Bull KTMFactory Racing's Laier to lead the pack into the first corner withPapenmeier and Kawasaki Racing's Lancelot following.
The latter did not last long as her troublesome shoulder popped outright after she was overtaken by Kane. Then the Championship leaderslipped and had to be taken to the hospital for a medical check, as sheis likely to miss the second heat tomorrow.
Laier and Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2's Papenmeier just pulledaway from the rest of the field to take first and second respectively,while Kane of MRV-D Suzuki followed from a distant third.
Franke and Mann ended the top five.
