Running alongside round three of the British ACU Sidecarcross Championship, the Sidcup club staged round two of the SEMX and Sidcup club championships at the historic and improved Canada Heights track in Kent.

Over 120 participants enjoyed the warm sunshine of the weekend, with the usual allcomers rules applied - the fastest 40 qualifiers racing in group A, the second fastest 40 into group B and the rest in C.

Mark Eastwood was fast out of the gate at his home circuit, taking two Canada Heights holeshots

The evergreen Mark Eastwood, riding his Eastwood Honda, secured the holeshot at the start of the first A race, ahead of Liam Knight (KTM), Josh Bassett (Jim Aim KTM), and Rob Wood (KTM). However, while Bassetts race ended early on lap two, both Knight and Wood managed to slip past the fast-starting Eastwood, pushing him back to third.

Liam Garland (SRE Services KTM) started in seventh but by the end of lap three had moved up to third, attempting to catch the two leaders and eventual winners, Knight and Wood. Eastwood finished strongly in fourth, while Junior Thomas (Honda) progressed from 10th at the start to finish fifth.

The first Junior rider home was Tallon Aspden (KTM) in sixth, with Jack Camwell (Honda) finishing in 12th place.

Liam Garland was a worthy winner of race two

Garland got the holeshot at the start of race two, with Knight and Eastwood in his wheel tracks. Apart from spacing themselves out a bit, that was the order in which they finished.

Wood gated fourth and dropped back to seventh place by the end of lap two. However, from that point, he fought his way past Bassett, Lewis Taylor (Vancare KTM), and, two laps later, Ryan Nock (Honda) to finish the race in fourth, which was where he had started.

The first Junior to finish was Hadley Coppard (Impact Honda) in eighth, with Travis Laughton (KTM) finishing in 11th place.

While Eastwood secured his second holeshot of the day, and with Wood, Bassett, and Knight chasing during the opening lap, race two winner Garlands race abruptly stopped. After engaging his starting device on the start line and powering off, his front brake line became caught, then broke, dumping all his brake fluid and robbing him of stopping power. It would have been foolhardy to tackle Canada Heights with only one brake, so he returned to the pits. The chance of the overall victory was disappearing.

Knight snatched the lead, the race win and the overall from Wood by the end of lap five. Eastwood spent most of the race in a lonely third place with Bessett fourth. Coppard was fifth in the race but was the first Junior graded rider home.

Knight, with two race wins and a second place, was the overall winner ahead of Wood and Eastwood, while Garland dropped to fourth due to his DNF in race three.

Coppard was the overall Junior winner, followed by Aspden and Laughton.

Without winning a race Max Aspden (Yamaha) was the B-class winner from race one winner Scott Chambers (Honda) and Marley Ray Tupper (Yamaha).

In group C, race three winner Gabor Kruz (Evotech Honda) took the overall win from Grant Golding (Yamaha) and Matthew Skinner (KTM).
