Monster Energy Kawasaki has signed Malcolm Stewart for the 2027 SMX World Championship, with Garrett Marchbanks retained after earning 450SX Rookie of the Year honours in his debut premier-class season.
Stewart, who will race the new KX450F-SR, brings more than a decade of professional experience to the team and returns to the Kawasaki brand where his racing career began in the amateur ranks with Kawasaki Team Green.
The #27 enjoyed a landmark 2025, claiming his first 450SX victory before adding the King of Paris SX crown later that year. He recorded one podium and 14 top-10 finishes across the 2026 SMX series as he looks to build on that form in green.
Marchbanks will line up for a second season in the 450 Class after a promising rookie campaign. The former Kawasaki Team Green and Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider made steady progress aboard the KX450SR, earning Rookie of the Year honours in Supercross and recording career-best fourth-overall finishes at Thunder Valley and Unadilla in Pro Motocross.
He finished the season with five top-five SMX results and sixth overall in the SMX World Championship standings, and will be aiming to take another step forward in 2027.
“I’m very excited to be joining Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2027,” said Stewart. “I started my racing career on a Kawasaki as an amateur, so coming back to the brand feels like I’m returning to my roots. It’s a full-circle moment to have started my career with Kawasaki and now have the opportunity to return to where it all began. I’m looking forward to working with the team, getting on the KX450F-SR, and starting this new chapter.”
Marchbanks added – “I’m pumped to be back with Monster Energy Kawasaki for 2027. I’m super proud of the whole team and the amazing job they did this year. I’m really happy with the progress we made together. We learned a lot throughout the season, and I'm eager to keep building on that. I’m looking forward to putting in the work and coming back even stronger in 2027.”
