WITH heavy rain forecast for the country, everybody at the fourth round of the Bake & Bite National Twin-shock championship, held at Howton Court, Pontrilas, had their fingers crossed that it would have none of the rain that had besieged the country the week be-fore and, as the dawn broke on Sunday morning, they were not to be disappointed.

First on the line for the day was the ever thrilling MD Racing Products Over 50 class. In races one and two, Jack McEwan dominated proceedings, while in close contention behind him was four-stroke mounted Phil Wadsworth and Maico man Peter Lightfoot, each taking a second and third apiece. In the final race of the day, Lightfoot was determined to try his best to take the overall and although McEwan got the holeshot, Lightfoot slip-ped past him on lap two and went on the take the victory. However second spot for McEwan was enough to take the overall.

In the CI Sport/ DEP Pipes Over 40 class there was also some close competition for the top spots. In race one, Herefordshire club chairman blasted out of the gate to take an initial advantage over Tom Lowe and Chris Woodward. By lap two, Lowe had slipped past to take the win. In race two, Richard Peaster got a flyer to take a much deserved start to finish victory. It was all to play for in the last race of the day between Lowe and Woodward. Woodward got the initial advantage but Lowe pushed him all the way to the line.
