Moff Sco'ffs the lot!

The opening round of the all new Scott Amateur National Motocross Championships was held at the fantastic FatCat Moto Parc near Doncaster. Prepped to perfection by Martin Craven and the crew, and run on the same track as the recent Maxxis British Motocross Championships, the weekend turned out to be a right cracker for all involved.
Without doubt though it was Matt Moffat on his two-stroke KTM who had the crowd on their toes with an astonishing display of sand riding, proving that two-strokes still have a place on the start line. Also in the mix on day two were the LPE Kawasaki pairing of Ray Rowson and Conner Walkley.
Using the event as a training session the duo heated-up the MX2 class without taking points from the class riders.
Saturday dawned foggy and with everybody eager to get practice under way, patience was needed until the first aid team gave the all clear to get the event started.
Following a good 15-minute session to get everybody used to the track, it was the 125cc class that kicked-off the racing action. A huge line-up for the opening moto proved just how popular this class is. These guys really made their two-strokes sing, keeping the revs high throughout their 15-minute motos
Leading the way with a superb three from five wins was Tom Davis. However Tom didn't have it easy. John Robson powered out of the gate in Moto one and headed the field come to the chequered flag with Timothy Gardham grabbing his best result of the weekend in second. On day two, as the track rutted up and became tough for all riders, Daniel Wright rode a consistent final moto to take the win and push his way to a creditable fifth overall.
Next out were the combined Junior Open and Ladies classes. Proving this really is a championship for everybody the Junior Class had a real mix of abilities, ages and bikes, as did the Ladies.
The top three in the Juniors remained consistent over both days. Michael Graham took maximum points, with Ben Standford and Philip Hornds claiming second and third overall.
Battling alongside the Juniors, the Ladies put in some real gutsy performances. And boy were the top runners fast! After a first turn crash Louise Powell and Vicky Parkin made some rapid repairs to their bikes to re-join the action in race two. Not letting a dissapointing first moto get in the way the pair rode well for the remainder of the weekend.
Leading the way though was Stacey Fisher who skimmed her way over the deep sand making it all look easy, and she was rewarded with four wins from five races. Just pinching the final win on day two was Chelsea Gowland to finish in second overall. Third went to Sofie Levell.
