Motocross

It's the exciting event with plenty of all-round appeal MOTO 1 aims to find out which one man out of the 24 top motorcycling stars selected can cut it in four different disciplines to become the competition's best all-rounder. The riders will compete in trials, motocross, supermoto and road racing over the weekend of October 30/31 at Donington Park to try and claim the coveted Moto 1 plate in an event that follows a similar format to the legendary '70s Superbike Six contest won by off-road all-rounder Malcolm Rathmell. The riders aged from 19 to 59 include off-road stars the Knight brothers, Ady Smith, David Campbell, Graham Jarvis, Vic Allan, Wayne Braybrook, Sam Connor and a handful of supermoto and road racing big shots including Karl Harris, John McGuinness and Kieran Clarke. In addition to the multi-discipline event there'll be an action-packed weekend of motorcycle entertainment including the final round of the World Stunt Riding Championship, a freestyle motocross demo and Flyin' Ryan Griffiths will be trying to beat the world long-distance motorcycle jump record! Flyin' Ryan's longest jump so far is around 85 feet short of the current record so this will be one attempt that's well worth watching. And if that's not enough loonery to entice you to Donington then the Purple Helmets will be getting it on in their own superb style in demos throughout the weekend. Log on to the Moto 1 website - www.moto1.org - for more details and the chance to buy advance tickets. Donington Park is well signposted from junctions 24 and 23A of the M1 and also off the A50.
