Motocross

Paul's on the pace in Poland until he hurts his Honda - but he's pleased he's still running with the best in the world ANOTHER SIX days and more bad luck! My six days never seem to go smoothly and just when you seem to have things under control it can turn around in a heart beat. By now most of you will know all about the results from the six days and the other bad things that went on but all-in-all the event was okay and, for me, mixing it with the top two of E1 - Bart and Albigoni - was very pleasing. The bike ran perfect until day five when, from what we can gather, I just stretched the valves from revving her too hard. Although I fixed the problem the Jury (Italian) made me push the bike the full length of the circuit which was nearly a mile before I put the bike in to the closed park. Feeling completely knackered and *****d off, I lost three minutes and consequently lost my solid second in class. Anyhow, I was still pleased with the bike and my result up until the time of the hassles. So what's next! Well I'm off to Greece and Germany for the final two world rounds and also getting ready for Weston and the Telford Dirt Bike Expo, so yet again another month will be packed with events. The team front is going well and I've agreed terms for a big sponsor. PAR - or Rolly as most people know him - will be supporting the team for 2005 and this backing will enable us to help more UK riders. Right now there's myself and Simon Wakely and coming onto the team will be my brother Lee and Euan McConnell who will be making a full-time job of riding. We'll also be helping some expert riders with machinery. I'm still speaking with Paul Whibley at the moment but he's at the level that requires financial support which right now is hard for our team. But his results for the team have been without a doubt fantastic and if I can keep him I will. The team will yet again be focused on the two-strokes with all of us on either CR125s or CR250s. However, after my result at the ISDE I will probably ride a CRFX 250 in world championships so the team front is pretty much sorted. Well, from December 1 Fast Eddy Racing will be opening up a unit and we'll be doing replica bikes and performance parts for Hondas. After all these years I'm finally understanding how these things work and with two full-time mechanics we'll be ready to help out riders. We'll only be one mile from my brother Derrick so locally we should have the upper hand on the sociable front - people will be greeted with at least a smile! We will have team bikes available for sale at Telford where we should also be able to give out more information regarding the unit and what we're doing. On the Fast Eddy race series front there will again be action in '05 but I'm not going to be racing myself, freeing up more time to find venues and grade tracks. We're hoping to increase to five events and let riders drop their worst result - although we'll make the Pros ride 'em all. We'll also be returning to one Pro class and bringing back prize money! So it looks like being a busy winter for Fast Eddy and with things hopefully happening at Donnington Park as well I'll keep you all posted. Well that's it other than thanks to Gareth Hockey and Innovate Motorsport for their support at Weston. Regards, The Fast One
