Runaway world MX2 championship leader Jeffrey Herlings broke his right collarbone at a round of the Dutch Masters series onSunday.

The two-time champ, who has lost the world title for the last two years through injury, underwent surgery on Monday to plate the break and all the indications are that he'll be on the startline for the Czech GP on July 24.

Herlings was in a positive frame of mind following the operation.

"Everything is made again,” he said. "It is a clean fracture – without surgery would have lasted four to six weeks before I would be restored.”

Herlings KTM team-mate Pauls Jonass knew something was wrong when he saw Herlings pull off.

"I saw him going into the pit area and I knew it wasn't that good because Jeffrey is tough and when he crashes he usually continues,” he said. "I spoke to him a little after the finish because he went early to check up with the doctors. He was positive and said it wasn't a big deal. I think he will be back soon.”

KTM Factory Racing shared Herlings' post-op picture on social media with the message ‘Jeffrey Herlings ALREADY patched up and successfully mended. Don't worry, he's going to be #READYTORACE!”

Of the 12 rounds staged so far this season Herlings has won an astonishing 23 motos and leads the championship by 169 points.
