MX Diary: Apico's home heroes
By Team TMX on 6th Jul 16
The team may be based in the Midlands but Apico Husqvarna was fielding two home heroes for last Sundays fifth round of the Maxxis series at Leuchars and Bryan MacKenzie and Alexander Brown rose to the occasion.
Bry Mac qualified fastest in MX2 and led the opening race before arm-pump saw him fade back to third. In race two he recorded another third for – you guessed it – third on the day and now sits joint second in the title chase, seven points behind team-mate Steven Clarke who ran 5-4.
"Racing in Scotland was amazing and to feel the crowd support was great,” said
MacKenzie. "My racing and riding was good but I rode tight while leading the first race. Overall it was good to get two thirds and third overall on the day and close the gap on the leader in the championship going into Blaxhall in two weeks.”
In the two MXY2 races Brown produced two good starts
and rode well to claim both race wins.
"Today has been really good for me and to ride my home round with such a great crowd was a good experience,” said Brown. "The track got really rough which suits my style of riding as I prefer the sand.”
