New venue for British Championship Mitchell Trial
By TMX Archives on 7th Sep 11
The next round of the ACU Events sponsored 2011 British Solo Trials Championship, the Mitchell Trial, takes place on the weekend of September 24/25 and this year sports a new venue.
The long-standing Mitchell trial was originally slated to run at the well-known Morlais Quarry but will now take place at Glebe Farm, Twyn Gwyn Farm Lane, Mynyddislwyn, Newport, South Wales NP11 7BA.
Practise will as usual be on the Saturday between 3-5 pm and the trial will take place Sunday starting at 10am. TMX will of course print a preview of the event nearer the time.
With two rounds to go absolutely nothing is certain in any of the three classes. In the Championship class reigning champ James Dabill (Beta) currently holds a lead of a dozen marks over arch-rival Michael Brown (Gas Gas).
But as Browny has just finished sixth in the World Championship, ahead of his pal, the final two rounds are sure to be real nail-biters. The points are Dabill 117, Brown 105 with Gas Gas pair Sam Haslam and Ross Danby locked on 71 points in a battle for third place.
In Expert A it couldn't be closer with the scores currently standing at Ricky Wiggins (Gas Gas) 92, Jack Spencer (Beta) 91, James Fry (Sherco) 81.
Expert B is just as exciting with Guy Kendrew (Ossa) 106 and Richard Timperley (Sherco) 105.
The event secretary is Sue Payne c/o 5 Gwyn Crescent, Varteg, Pontypool, Torfaen NP4 7SS .
The final round of the series is the Red Rose Trial which will be staged over the unforgiving rockery at Back Cowm, Quarry, Rochdale, Lancashire, on Sunday, October 2.
