The 2015 Toughsheet sponsored National Twinshock MX Championships got off to a great start at the Stipers Hill circuit at Polesworth.

Cumbria Twin-shock team, ably supported by the Polesworth crew had the track looking the business before start of play, and the weekend sunshine dried out the parts that had seen lots of rain in the week prior to the event.

More than 240 riders turned up to make it one of the biggest line-ups seen in many a year, and with holeshot prizes it made for an exciting start to the season, with 21 races completed.

The Motolink Yamaha Evolution class were first to the line and they had to negotiate the tricky muddy sections after the uphill start.

Tom Marsh hit the front and carved out a commanding lea before he was caught late on by Cumbrian Warrior Paul Coward, who swept past to take the first moto from Marsh and Michael Smith.

Races two and three went the way of Smith as he led from the front to secure the overall and open up a slender three-point series lead on Coward.

Danny Blakeley took third on the podium on his debut in the class while Tom Marsh finished fourth and was awarded the CNR Burrows Rider of the Meeting award for mixing it with the top established names.

The LPE Clubman class produced some good racing with Mark Bill taking the first leg from Ben Price and Peter Maxwell.

Martin Cheesman led the way second time out from Price and young Mathew Bennett and with it all to play for Cheeseman took the third moto to claim the overall.

Sean Martin and Duncan Judd also got in on the action and Judd posted his best-ever result to finish runner-up overall ahead of a delighted event sponsor Simon Bentley in third.

The Wulfsport Experts class was a tough one to call, although in the end it turned out to be a master-class performance from Alex Butler with three classy wins to his name.

Gary Parker chased him in the opener with Lee Holland third, from Jon Cowgill and Lee Buck.

Jamie Jackson followed Butler home in race two, from Michael Smith and Parker, while in the final encounter young Joel Hughes got into his stride to take second from Smith and Holland.
