Motocross

KATHI Prumm retained her Womens World Cup title with an overwhelming double win on her Molson Kawasaki at Lierop on Sunday, but Natalie Kane, the 15-year-old from Ban-bridge, Northern Ireland, was again the sensation as she holeshot both motos and steered her Fork-Rent Suzuki to second place each time.

Katherine had already set the standard on Saturdayas she zipped round six seconds faster than any of the other girls, andon the same second as some MX2 lads!

Despite shocking starts, the 19-year-old, whocalls Auckland, NZ, home when she's there, scorched through the pack tolead within four laps in each moto and it was clear that she could onlybeat herself by falling.

‘‘Yes, I made the series hard work for myself whenI crashed in Germany. I guess I let the number one plate get to methere. I was tense and impatient to get to the front. I didn't make thesame mistake again.

‘‘We don't have any sand tracks in New Zealand, but I've been here in Europe practising in Belgium with my brothersince just after Namur. Now I'm looking forward to next year with fiverounds, including South Africa. It will be nice for the rest of thefamily to be there.''

And when is she going to try MX2?

‘‘When I'm fast enough to qualify!'' Note, not ''if'' but ‘‘when''!
