QUICK: Last chance to join Scott entry list
By TMX Archives on 9th Sep 15
THE news this week from Richmond MCC in deepest Yorkshire is that entries for the 2015 Scott Trial, the world famous time and observation battle for survival on the moors, have been held open for a couple of extra days.
They will now close today – Thursday, September 10.
Word is that the club was sitting on around 170 entries and would ideally like to see that magic 200-mark reached although that is a tough call.
A dip in entries was always on the cards after last year's epic 100th anniversary celebratory event, when more than a few of the more senior riders decided that that was the perfect Scott for a last Hurrah before bowing to anno domini (‘old age' in English!).
The 2015 Scott will take place on Saturday, October 17.
And while it might seem like an early closing date the Richmond club prides itself on its superb Scott Programme, the proceeds of which provide a sizeable chunk of money for the Scott Charities, which benefits the rural communities around the market town of Reeth as a thank-you for allowing the use of the land for this event.
So, if you have been thinking about entering the Scott take advantage of this last chance of a ride by logging into the Richmond club website where you can enter online – and ensure your name is in the programme for posterity!
James Dabill won the 100th anniversary edition last year on a total of 43 marks lost, in a close finish from his pal Michael Brown on 47 and Doug Lampkin 49.
