Shaun Simpson put the seal on a successful defence of his Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship title with victory in the opening race at Sundays seventh round of the series. In doing so he wrapped up the MX1 crown with five races still to run. With just a handful of events left, 2015 is shaping up to be the 27-year-old Scots most successful season so far.

At home he has dominated, winning an incredible 18 Maxxis motos from 20 starts with only two runner-up finishes spoiling an otherwise perfect record. In the MXGP series the Hitachi Revo KTM UK rider has won three races, taken two overalls and sits fourth in the standings with two rounds to run, earning himself factory support for the remainder of the year and for 2016. He also finished fourth overall at the AMA National at Unadilla last month.
His seventh Maxxis overall on Sunday sets him up for a clean sweep of this year's championship with just one round left at FatCat on October 4.
"It's been a season to remember, definitely,” he said. "We've been trying really hard this year – a lot of work went into the off-season developing the 2015 bike to where I could get some results on it and that sort of led into the factory support these last few weeks.
"My trip to America I think helped that and raised my profile and KTM really understood I was doing a good job for them and it was nice of them to step up and give me a chance to ride this 2016 factory bike. I feel like it's made a difference to my riding – it's given me a boost at the right time of the season and I'm really motivated to go out on a high.
"It was important for me today to tie up the championship. The wins were nice but the overall was the main goal purely because I want to try and do an unbeaten season. It's been great. We've been trying hard. I push every lap of every moto and I feel like I'm
getting the rewards for it.”
