REIGNING World Trials Champion Adam Raga finally managed to beat his nemesis, Repsol-Montesa's Toni Bou, at the second day of the Japanese round of the World Trials Championship at Motegi on Sunday.

It came as a huge relief to the Gas Gas rider after Bou won the previous five rounds, including the opening day in Japan. And Raga achieved his goal with a truly brilliant clean final lap of the 15 Motegi sections to take a morale-boosting victory - and in Honda's (Repsol Montesa) back-yard!

So at the end of the weekend honours were even between the two rivals for the 2007 World crown as Raga finally stopped the march of his young, fellow Catalan.

Brown doubles-up in Japan

IN the separate battles for the World Junior and Youth Cups there was plenty of involvement for the far-travelled Brits. Michael Brown, although struggling with the European series, is romping away with the Junior Cup series and his Japanese double-win took his total to five victories from the six rounds to date.

On the opening day, Alexz Wigg made it a fantastic British one-two as he was able to wriggle his 125 Gasser through the Japanese sections which were more technical and less brutal than the French sections the previous week.

Browny reckoned that the sections were a lot easier than normal, but there was still a huge gap of 20 points between runner-up Wigg and third placed Sherco-rider, Italian Matteo Grattarola. French rider and series runner-up Nicolas Gontard had a nightmare, down in fifth place and nowhere near the pace losing 42 marks and finishing behind countryman Loris Gubian.
