Scott nine
By TMX Archives on 28th Oct 09

GRAHAM Jarvis, riding his first trial since he won the event last year, pulled-off a sensational ninth victory in the world-famous Scott Time and Observation Trial on Saturday, staged in incessant rain and mist on the Yorkshire moors above Richmond. The Sherco rider overcame the disadvantage of 14 time marks, the legacy of having to stop and remove the carburettor in order to clean-out a piece of muck lodged in the jets, with a superb observation score of just 22 marks dropped in the 76 sections scattered around the 80-mile course.
Newly-crowned British Trials champ, James Dabill, was the first rider to steam into the finish, just a minute in front of first-timer Jonathan Richardson, to set standard time which was five hours 13 minutes and 32 seconds. Graham who, as ever, had finished really strongly, could only peg the time deficit back to 14 minutes and with James pretty confident he had posted a good observation score, around 25 he was guessing, the Gas Gas camp had its fingers crossed for a long-awaited victory. But when the results were announced on Saturday night Graham's efforts in the sections had swung him that incredible ninth win – by just two marks!
