Swede taste of success

Its Bou at the double again

THE 2015 Trials World Championship headed to Boras, Sweden, last weekend for the third round, the first time that the series has visited Scandinavia since 2008.

The two-day event took place over mainly natural sections in a heavily wooded area.

And Repsol Montesa team leader and reigning eight-time champ Toni Bou kept up his 100 per cent record for 2015, although Adam raga gave him a hard time on the second day.

But the real interest for British fans was in the World Cup class where we were able to celebrate not one but TWO winners over the two days' competition.

Beta-riding Welsh Champion Iwan Roberts shocked the fancied runners on Saturday – and followed this up with a superb second place on Sunday when Jack Price lit-up the results sheets on his Gas Gas.

And there were plenty more points logged by Brits further down the order with Dan Peace, Billy Bolt and Dec Bullock all in the mix.

The opening day saw conditions on the hillside very slippery as morning showers kept the already wet conditions damped down and many riders struggled away from their favoured dry grippy rocks.

Jeroni Fajardo was hot out of the blocks, though, and the Beta rider led after the opening lap dropping 15 marks through the 12 sections, featuring steep rocky outcrops and very slippery earth climbs, including compulsory fives at sections four and eight as both proved impossible.

Bou was next in line on 19 although Toni then got a handle on both conditions and the sections to post the best lap score of the trial second time round, losing just 10 marks.

Having got his nose in front he kept the pressure on with a final lap score of 13 to take a comfortable victory from Fajardo, who stayed consistent throughout.
