Sword returns at Hawkstone

THE third round of the Wulfsport British Masters Motocross Championship heads to infamous Hawkstone Park this weekend, June 16/ 17, and the big news heading into the event is that former multiple British MX2 champion Steven Sword will make his long awaited return to racing at the hallowed Shropshire circuit after suffering horrendous leg injuries at the German GP last year at Teutschenthal.

The Molson Kawasaki rider has been out of actionfor over a year, slowly rehabilitating and recovering from the horrorcrash in the MX1 class in Germany that shattered his ankle andseriously threatened to end his riding career, and has chosen theBritish Masters event to ease himself back into racing and test out theankle in race conditions prior to his return to full-on Britishchampionship action the following weekend in the MX2 class atDesertmartin.

The popular Scot will receive a warm receptionfrom the Hawkstone crowd after such a long lay-off and his appearancegives the British Masters event a major boost too.

Although many eyes will be on him, it is not allabout Swordy at Hawkstone though as the regular championship runnershave the very serious business of collecting championship points toattend to and once again a weekend of top class racing action from theYouth, Amateur and Pro class riders is on the cards as they tackle thelegendary GP circuit.

Pioneer Yamaha's Brad Anderson tops the bill onSunday in the Pro Open class after demolishing the opposition at DeanMoor's second round, while PAR Honda youngster Ashley Greedy will belooking to repeat his blistering second round display also and assume adominant position in the title race.

With top flight Youth and Amateur racing takingplace across the weekend at Hawkstone too, fans are in for a real treatfrom the British Masters teams once again.

All the action kicks-off at 9am on Saturday withthe Youth and Amateur action before the Pro classes take centre stageon Sunday and entry is £15 for the weekend or £5 per day.
