The Daytona Supercross is a unique beast.

Amp'd Mobile World Supercross: 3rd round Daytona, FL. More motocross than Supercross, Daytona has always held a high spot on the list of races you really want to do well at. With that said Mike Alessi, Jeff Alessi and Zach Osborne rolled into Daytona on a mission to get KTM their first podium of the 2007 season.
Things didn't look good at the start as Mike Alessi got tangled up with another rider at the start of his heat race and barely qualified, working his way from dead last to eighth by then end of the short 6 lap heat race. Jeff Alessi had a little better race as he battled with and beat previous race winner Ben Townley for the fourth spot.
While both of the Alessi brothers made it into the main event Zach Osborne failed to qualify and pretty much had a day he would rather forget.
The start of the main event went extremely well for the Alessi brothers with Jeff rounding the first lap in fifth and his brother Mike right behind him in sixth. Jeff would work up as high as third during the main event, but eventually finish seventh. Mike may have started in sixth, but he quickly worked his way into third and controlled the final spot on the podium for the last 10 laps.
Congratulations to Mike for his first Supercross podium of the 2007 season.
