The Mark of Quality

SUNSHINE and a bitterly cold North East wind welcomed riders to the picturesque Dean Moor circuit in Cumbria for round two of the Wulfsport British Masters series over the weekend.
After the rained-off Pro classes at Culham last month, the race was the first outing for the headliners of the series and they didn't disappoint the spectators with some great racing.
ARB Tuning Kawasaki's Mark Jones showed he was fully fit and on top-form and stole the show with a brilliant display of riding. Not happy with just winning both Pro Open class motos, he also went out aboard a 250F machine and blasted off two wins in the Pro 125 class to boot. Neville Bradshaw and Wayne Smith, along with a host of other top riders, also showed well in both races, and there were wins elsewhere for Thomas Batty and David Wall in the Amateur ranks, whilst Mel Pocock, Luke Hawkins and Ben Howell ruled the roost in the Youth division at the end of the weekend.
Jordan Rose grabbed the holeshot in Pro Open race one, ahead of the chasing pack of Wayne Smith,
Neville Bradshaw, Mark Hucklebridge and Mark Jones, but Jones soon picked his way through to second and the chase was on.
Rose held onto the lead for most of the race until Jones picked him off to move clear and take the race win, while Smith also got past Rose late on to take second, Rose eventually claiming third just ahead
of Hucklebridge and Bradshaw.
In race two it was the same riders who contested the lead, but this time Rose had all the riders with him from the word go and it was the battle of Jones and Smith that got the crowd cheering.
Smith got into the lead but was closely followed by Jones who was waiting for a mistake from Smith, with Rose in a watching position just in case they faulted. They were closely followed by Bradshaw who was having a battle with Danny Smyth.
The pressure of Jones on Smith lasted until the last lap, when Jones made his move for the lead and came home to take win number two and the overall. Smith claimed second with Rose and Bradshaw third and fourth.
