ENTRIES for the 2016 Scottish Six Days Trial closed with a mighty 430 hopefuls looking for a ride in the event which takes place from Monday to Friday, May 2-7.

And with just 275 places available it was all down to the dreaded ballot with more than 150 riders doomed to disappointment.

This proved that rumours to the effect the event was struggling for entries were totally unfounded and those spreading them now look extremely silly!

The ballot has now been carried out and the lucky riders will be notified before the New Year – and the organisers would like to provide some clarification on what happens next.

In a change this year to allow those successful in the ballot more time to book holidays from work, arrange accommodation etc, the ballot took place earlier.

All entrants will be advised as to the status of their entry between Christmas and New Year. Those successful will be advised on what they need to do next in terms of payment etc.

So, if you entered the 2016 SSDT and have not heard from the Secretary regarding the status of your entry by January 1 then please contact the secretary but not before January 1.

Sorry to say that TMX will not be able to publish the list of riders accepted for some considerable time as there will be no full entry list published by the club until around March 2016.

The club say that this is to give entrants time to confirm entries, make payment and for the club to reallocate entries to reserve riders where necessary.

Edinburgh & District Motor Club would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy New Year when it comes.
