Trials Torque: Hooked on trials
By Team TMX on 11th Nov 15
SURREY-based Hookwood Trials Centre ran their first Trials Training Weekend recently, in Brecon, Wales.
The weekend was run by Tim Connor, with the intention of bringing together riders of all ages and abilities for a
three-day trials weekend, using three different pieces of land.
Two of them were over 600 acres and the other was formerly used for the British Championship.
Hookwood TC put together a package to include riding, breakfast every morning, drinks and snacks, plus a three-course meal and accommodation every night.
Goodie bags were given to each participant with T-shirts, oils, dvds, bike wash and stickers, thanks to Malcolm Rathmell Sport, RAW Sports, Apico, Putoline UK and Scottish Six Days Trial.
There were loads of awards up for grabs and it was a great event all round.
Elite riders consisted of recently crowned European Champion Toby Martyn and his dad Tim, Jonny Starmer, Jason Bayliss, British Champion Jack Peace, South Eastern Champion James Connor.
Expert riders Tim Connor, Twin Shock British Champions Simon Hiscock and Phil Wiffen, Barry Roads, Chris Heane, Tom ‘Dough Balls' McCabe, Stuart Robinson, Miles Carruthers, Oliver Smith and Gary Brown.
Intermediates Jim Connor, Jonathon Court, Pete, Ian and Will Thompson, Teemu and Matti Salin, Paul McCabe, Jim Howell, Ian Smith, Charlie Woodward, Jon Yendell, Leah, Alicia and Nate Robinson, Nigel Haines and Stuart Packham plus Wonder Woman minder, mum and driver Jayne Peace.
Tim Connor said: "We see riders of all abilities training at Hookwood and time and time again you see Experts, Intermediates and Novices riding amongst themselves, often without paying much attention to others. "This was different. "
Hookwood Trials Centre thank all who took part and look forward to the next trip in 2016.
