Up the Pole' for Phil

The opening round of this year's RDH Auctions sponsored National Twin-shock Championship was hosted by the Polesworth Twin-shock Club at the its Stipers Hill track. It was testament to the hard work of club officials and members in the weeks before the event that it actually went ahead, as several other events up and down the country were cancelled due to waterlogged venues.

The sandy terrain had been extensively graded, but was inevitably soft in places which gave the 240 riders plenty to think about during the sticky practice sessions. The meeting started in overcast conditions, but as the day wore on the sun came out and the track eventually dried out.
