WAYNE Smith rode two nervous races, staying out of trouble and doing just enough to become the 2007 British Four-stroke Motocross Champion on his PAR Homes Honda at Howton Court, Pontrilas, on Sunday.

Just hours before the start of practice at roundseven of the CCM British MMX Championship, it was announced by theseries organisers that, with the loss of the last round venue, and withno substitute being found, the event would be the final round of theseries.

While Smith was doing his thing in theFour-strokes, Molson Kawasaki's Ray Rowson had already won theabreviated Under 21 championship as he went to the event with a healthy92-point lead over Relentless Suzuki's Jamie Law with only sixty pointsup for grabs. The Shropshire rider showed why he's champ on the daythough with two blistering wins.

In the British Quad championship, it went down tothe wire as series leader and reigning champ, John Mitchell, on the ATVWorld Yamaha, messed up his first race allowing Interlock Honda's PaulWinrow to close the gap, but he managed to win the second and hold ontohis title he fought so hard to pry out of Winrow's grasp last year.

What has happened to the English summer? It rainedand rained all day Saturday with riders and officials being towed intothe paddock and everyone with their wellies on, but it finally stoppedon Saturday evening and the track was in great shape come the start ofpractice.
