Star Racing Yamaha’s Max Anstie opened up the 250SX East regional championship of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series with a stunning victory ahead of teammate Daxton Bennick.
Anstie took the holeshot in the Main Event but was passed by teammate Pierce Brown who later crashed in the whoops causing the red flags to come out. After a single file restart, Anstie dominated the rest of the race as he pulled away from the field to claim his third career SX victory. Bennick hung on for second but was later penalised for jumping on waved yellows and was docked points while Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo ignored the discomfort of racing with a torn ACL to secure third and after Bennick’s penalty sits second in points.
Reigning champ Tom Vialle placed fifth on the night while pre-event favourites Austin Forkner (Monster Energy Triumph), RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and Levi Kitchen (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) all hit trouble and finished down the field.
Former DRT Kawasaki team member Jack Chambers finished 19th on the night but Harri Kullas failed to make the Main Event in his AMA SX debut.
