Jack Peace is World Champion

Scarborough trials ace Jack Peace gave Great Britain a trials world championship when he clinched the 2016 FIM Trial125 World Cup with a win at the sixth round of the series staged at Comblain au Pont, Belgium, on Sunday.
The World Cup, which runs alongside the FIM Trial World Championship, takes place over eight rounds and 15 days competition with all rounds featuring two separate scoring days apart from last weekend's Belgian trial which was just a single day.
Contenders drop their four worst scores and with two rounds still to go - Great Britain this weekend and then Italy - the JST Cloburn 125cc Gas Gas-mounted 16-year-old can't be caught in the standings.
Jack has won eight out of the 11 rounds staged to-date with his nearest challenger, German Beta rider Max Faude, having won just a single day in Andorra. Max has scored 186 points and now mathematically can't match Jack's 211-point total.
Jack began the campaign in the best possible way with a double victory in the opening Spanish round and then made the long trip to Japan worthwhile with another winning double to establish a solid early lead.
Claimed
He then had to settle for a brace of seconds in Germany as 17-year-old home rider Jaume Robrain dropped down from the Trial2 class to take a double win before reverting back to Trial2 for the remainder of the season.
Jack then won the opening day in Andorra before Faude claimed his only victory of the season so far. But Jack was back to the top with maximum points in France before nailing the World Cup Championship with victory last Sunday in Belgium.
Jack, whose older brother Dan is contesting the Trial2 class and also has a win under his belt, is clearly a very bright prospect for the future as he is also comfortably leading the Youth A class of the British championship having won all five rounds held so far.
Jack, whose mum and dad Jayne and Tim both rode trials, is now able to ride the British round at Tong this weekend in front of the home fans as the newly-crowned champion as he sees the series out – and eyes-up Trial2 in 2017.
