Trials

BRADFORD & District MC stage the seventh of the nine round ACU S3 Parts Clubman Championship with their Allan Jefferies Trophy Trial which will start at Halton Gill, Littondale, in deepest, remotest Yorkshire on Sunday.

And the three figure entry will find a totally changed Allan Jefferies trials course from previous years as the road mileage has been seriously cut.

Gone are the well known section groups Flamethrower, Fountains Fell and Arncliffe Scree plus the laborious road ride via Kilnsey to Kettlewell.

The Jefferies on Sunday will be a spectacular ride across the moors to Langstrothdale and Hagg Gill, Yockenthwaite, Raisgill and Bouther Gill.

In effect the clock has been turned back almost 40 years regarding the sections.

After a return to the start and a refuel, a second loop over the moors will take in Hubberholme, Redmire and Hagg Beck.

The sting in the tail is back at Halton Gill with Wilks Field, parc ferme, Ellershaw Farm and finally Halton Gill's legendary slippery Waterfall.

Time allowance will be six and a half hours for the 38 section course.

Richard Sadler, from West Witton, near Leyburn won the Jefferies last year, from 2014 winner Ian Austermuhle and both will be back, Richard having just won the Dave Rowland National last Sunday.

But will Dan Thorpe or maybe Guy Kendrew spoil the party?

Dan recently married Katy Sunter and the new Katy Thorpe is of course also in the entry and chasing Clubman glory.

James Fry is the runaway leader of the 2016 S3 Parts Championship series having won all six rounds held to date for a maximum 120 points.

Luke Walker is second on 88 and Chris Pearson making it a Sherco 1-2-3 on 73.

Sherco mounted James will also be a challenger for the Jefferies Premier award so one way and another a very competitive day's trials is on the cards.

Halton Gill Ladies will again be providing their awesome home cooked and baked refreshments in the Reading Rooms.

It is worth a visit to the trial for the cakes alone!

Bultaco twin-shock exponent James Moorhouse is due to lead the field away at 10.01am.
