Jotagas goes bust

The ongoing unpredictable state of flux in the Spanish trials industry continues with news that Jotagas has filed for bankruptcy and gone into administration.
The news came to light publicly in the official business gazette of February 20 which stated that Jotagas SL filed for bankruptcy on February 4.
An administrator has been appointed and creditors were given a month in which to file claims.
Since Jordi Tarres and his business partner Marc Aranyo left the project to set up the rival JTS factory – the JTS clearly showing similar design and technology – little information has come from Jotagas.
Jotagas has been kept going by Josep Pibernat – the former creator and long-time joint owner of Gas Gas – but on a very small scale. Britain's Jack Sheppard rode for Jotagas in 2015 and while acknowledging that it was a good machine he became frustrated at the lack of development and the fact that he only had one bike which he maintained himself.
It is not known what will happen to Jotagas, whether it will disappear into history as a short-lived experiment or whether someone thinks it can be revived as a going concern. The operation is nowhere near on the scale of Gas Gas and the winding-up process is expected to be relatively quick.
