Toni Bou Clinches 20th TrialGP Title

Toni Bou (Montesa) has done it again. The Spanish superstar clinched an unprecedented 20th consecutive FIM TrialGP World Championship title at the TrialGP of the Netherlands in Zelhem, adding another extraordinary chapter to what has become one of the most remarkable winning streaks in motorsport.
Bou arrived in the Netherlands knowing that the premier-class crown was within reach and duly delivered on Saturday, winning both races to put one hand on the trophy. Come Sunday morning, the title was his for the taking.
And, typically, he did it in style.
The entirely man-made Zelhem course – a brutal collection of huge boulders, concrete slabs and giant pipes – provided plenty of opportunities for mistakes, but Bou held his nerve when it mattered. A surprise five on the second section handed Jaime Busto (Beta) the early advantage, but the defending champion gradually reeled him in as the race progressed.
Busto hit trouble himself on section five, dropping a maximum, and from there Bou began to pull clear. He finished the opening race with just five marks lost to secure the victory and, more importantly, the title.
Busto finished second on 11, with Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) third on 21.
That made it 20 consecutive premier-class championships for Bou – a feat that is becoming increasingly difficult to comprehend.
Yet there was still another race to come, and with Bou having won all 21 races staged so far in 2026, the unbeaten run was very much alive.
He duly topped Super Pole to secure the advantage of starting last in the Final, but his preferred starting position soon became a disadvantage as the sections deteriorated under the wheels of the riders ahead of him.
Bou remained clean through the opening three sections before running into trouble at the fourth, where he felt the severity had increased considerably with the passage of the earlier riders. He eventually had to revisit the section and picked up a maximum, leaving him four marks behind Busto heading into the Super Final.
This time there was no comeback.
Bou stayed clean throughout the Super Final but Busto was equally impressive, dropping just two marks to take the race win and bring an end to Bou’s perfect 2026 race-winning streak.
Bou, however, still extended his run of overall day victories to 11 in a row – and, more importantly, left Zelhem with another world title safely tucked away.
“I’m super-happy with the weekend and the season,” said Bou. “Jaime was super-strong in the second race and I had just one mistake in one section so he won the second race, but I am so happy to have won the title. It feels amazing.”
