Trials Torque: Great Scott is here again
By John Dickinson on 30th Aug 17
THIS years Scott Trial, which will take place on Saturday, October 21, is fast approaching.
So all you riders who fancy riding the famous course and sections on the Yorkshire moors alongside current and past World, European and British champions, need to get your entries filled in and sent off before the closing date of Friday, September 8 - which believe it or not is just over a week away!
The Richmond Motor Club's Scott time and observation epic is legendary with its 80 mile moorland course centred on the dales town of Reeth, including around 75 sections, is absolutely unique and it is without doubt the toughest and best known one day trial in the World.
New Scott secretary Ken Wallis - scottsecretary@richmondmotorclub.com - is busy getting all the land permissions in place while taking the entries and attending to all the other paperwork which goes with the running of this famous trial.
Clerk of the course Paul Robinson, with his faithful and knowledgeable assistants, has already plotted the route which promises to have some new sections on new routes to spice things up for regular contenders as well as keeping the traditional sections for both riders and spectators.
Yorkshire riders are bound by tradition to enter but more 'visitors' are always welcome.
If you haven't given it a go before why not bite the bullet? A Scott entry provides absolutely maximum bragging rights, regardless of how far you make it on the day.
Nothing beats being a Scott Trial competitor in the trials world.
So remember, the first 200 entries are guaranteed a ride, don't be like those 31 riders from last year who left it too late and had their fingers crossed for six weeks.
Entries are available to download at richmondmotorclub.com - and you really need to crack on now and get those entries in.
