Trials Torque: The Girls are back in town
By Jason Bellinger on 9th Mar 16
THE opening round of the 2016 ACU Acklams Beta Womens and Girls British Championship gets the eight round series underway this week on Sunday, March 13, at the iconic Seymours Arena in the heart of Oxfordshire courtesy of the hard working North Berks MCC.
Seymours is the focal point of motorcycle trials in the area and only recently it was a major part of the North Berks S3 Parts Championships course.
The venue is clearly popular with riders and an impressive 43 entries have arrived for the opening round.
The predominantly man-made course, perfect for spectators, is designed to challenge the riders as they tackle three laps of 12 sections comprising rocks and cambers and a few short, sharp hills.
In the B class two names stand out, Hanna Moore and Alice Minta.
With a dozen entries in the Ladies Intermediate class, this is the biggest of the day and it will be hard to pick a winner here.
The Girls A class sees local star Alicia Robinson riding in this group for the first time after moving up from the B class, which she won last year.
A pleasure to see an entry from Jersey, Kira Beardshall, and two girls from the Isle of Man, Kaytlyn Adshead and Ella Doherty.
In the Ladies Championship, a total of seven riders will be looking for the podium.
But with World and British Champion Emma Bristow, World and British No.2 Becky Cook and World and British No.3 Donna Fox in the mix,
it will take a special ride to knock them off the podium as the trio are also the current Trial de Nations Champions as Team GB!
Emma will actually be flying back from the Czech Republic on Saturday night from a Ladies World Enduro round to start the defence of her British title at Seymours.
Seymours Arena is in the village of Aston Tirrold, Oxfordshire, off the A417 and following the postcode OX11 9AW.
The opening round will start at 10am with plenty of parking available along with a food van and toilet facilities on site. Camping will be available from mid day on Saturday.
If you can, get along and support our girls, they are a talented bunch, in fact they are the best in the World.
