CARL Nunn's horrific crash from the table-top during the Grand Final race on Sunday at the Hawkstone International was very reminiscent of the one that wrecked Stephen Sword's ankle last year, however, Nunny is well on the road to recovery this week.
T+MX spoke to the Bikeit Yamaha British MX2 champ on Tuesday and he told us: ''I am sore and a bit stiff in my coccyx area and my ankles are sore, but I was lucky, it could have been very much worse.
''I got cross-rutted at the foot of the table top take-off ramp and I had to jump off mid-air and landed on my feet, then my backside hit hard. I just couldn't move at first as I was a bit numb with coming down so hard, but the paramedics and marshals did a great job of protecting me from oncoming bikes until the race was eventually stopped, so thanks to them.
''My trainer is helping me with stretches and some physio to get me ready for the British round at Canada Heights this Sunday as I am a bit stiff so far this week.''
Swordy similarly abandoned his Kawasaki mid-air last season at the German GP in May and landed heavily on his ankles and has been left with a badly damaged right foot, which is slowly recovering after infections have put back his training.
He hopes to be at Canada Heights on Sunday as an unhappy spectator.
