Gold for Dean Moor

The Goldspeed British QX Series moves to the spectacular Dean Moor Motocross Park, near Workington, Cumbria this Sunday and the programme includes adult support classes and the KIK Sponsored first round of the British Youth QX Championship.
After a drama-packed opening double header in Ireland, it is current British Quad Champion Paul Winrow on the Team KTM UK machine who leads the series by 14 points from his long time rival John Mitchell. A superb display in Ireland saw Carl Bunce come away in third place a further 19 points adrift on the MKM Rocketman Suzuki, but just one point behind and flying the flag for Cumbria is Mark Watson from Alston. Currently running third in the European Quad Championship, 2009 Weston Beach Race winner Jason Macbeth will be aiming for the podium once again for the Team KTM UK squad.
After a demanding two-day meeting at Desertmartin that provided some superb racing, it is former Irish Sidecarcross Champion Geoffrey Ingram who leads the ACU British Masters Quad Championship by 26 points from Geoff Sharp, but as the series has already shown there is little to separate the top five riders and the action promises to be fast and furious. Michael Boyle will also make the trip across the Irish Sea to try to reduce the four-point deficit to Sharp, but with just three points splitting Boyle and Anthony Barrett there is little room for error.
Not to be outdone by their more experienced counterparts, the elite of UK youth riders will travel to the North West for the first of four rounds of the 2010 ACU British Youth Quad Championship. Over the years the depth of talent at this level has grown from strength to strength and last years meeting at the Cumbrian venue provided some spectacular racing throughout the field to keep the large crowd well entertained.
With practice getting under way at 9am and an 18 race programme to provide plenty of entertainment, this is certainly a meeting not to be missed.
