WITH a focus on enjoying the racing and having fun rather than focusing solely on the results, Maverik Racing is not your average Youth motocross squad, but its results this season prove that you don't have to have rage-filled race dad and ultra serious outlook to have success, writes Vince Page.

Set-up in 2006 as the brainchild of Dorset based couple Nicki andJason Carpenter, and this season supporting 125cc riders Lewis Trickettand Carl Miles, 85cc class contenders Jake Shipton and Ryan Butlet,Jamie Carpenter on 65cc KTM, and Auto pilot Josh Bunter, the MaverikRacing was constructed around the concept of supporting severalyoungsters, in terms of finance as well as products, embraced in ahappy, relaxed team atmosphere, without the high octane pressure andexpectations found within some other team environments.

Instilling a sense of dignity and respect into their young team theCarpenters believe that the riders courteous behaviour in the pits isequally important to their results on the circuit.

Inevitably this approach to Youth motocross has already attractedseveral sponsors including Fro Systems and Maxima Oils who are helpingthe Maverik team compete in events around the UK and Europe this seasonand the Carpenters are confident this rather fresh, honest approach to amotocross team will pay dividends in the long term.
