Master class on the cards again

THE ACU Trials and Enduro Committee has been asked several times to consider the re-introducion of the Masters Class for the 2008 Colin Appleyard British Trials Championship as a half-way house between the main Championship class and the popular Expert class. It would, as before, use six sections each from of the Championship and Expert routes. Whether this class is actually included in 2008 will be dependant upon the response to the Registration Form which is being mailed out to all who registered for the 2007 Championship.
The form is also available on the ACU website. At last week's Dirt Bike Show, several riders expressed interest in the return of the Masters class including current Championship rider Ben Hemingway and reigning Expert champ Joe Baker.
As a guide, the Championship Class is open to riders of known ability, while the Masters class is open to riders who have previously competed in the Championship class or who have had successful results in the Expert class.
The form must be completed and returned by January 31 to: Trials and Enduro Department, ACU House, Wood Street, Rugby, Warwickshire CV21 2YX.
Regarding the Expert Class, the Committee has received criticism of the outcome of the ‘Priority Entry List' system as used in recent years.
In 2007, none of the rounds in the series were over-subscribed and therefore, for 2008, the ACU will not be asking for riders to register for the Expert Championship.
However, it will include in the Championship Regulations that priority be given in the following order:–
1) Riders with points in the current year – to be used from the second round onwards.
2) Riders with Championship points from 2007.
3) Top five riders from the 2007 Youth A Championship wishing to ride Adult.
4) Top ten riders in the 2007 Novogar Championship.
