THE stunning hillside track at St. Harmon, just outside Rhayader, Mid-Wales, will reverberate to the sound of competition once again on Wednesday evening, May 30, when the long-awaited first round of the PAR Homes/ Baches Bargains sponsored Welsh Open Motocross Championship takes place.
And once again the hard-working Rhayader club has assembled abrilliant national-class entry to entertain the crowds, led by currentBritish Four-stroke champion Brad Anderson as well as PAR Homes Hondateam riders including GP star Gordon Crockard, South African NevilleBradshaw, Wayne Smith and top Welsh youngster Ashley Greedy.
Also staring in the fantastic line-up are Mark Hucklebridge and BenSaunders who will be hoping to field a strong challenge in front of thelarge crowd at the Cwmythig Hill circuit and hoping to earn some of theBIG prize money on offer.
Club members have been busy improving the spectacular track whichincludes a downhill ski jump, wall of death berm and the infamous 65ftfinish line tabletop jump, as well as a new whoops section.
With practice at 5.45pm and the first race at 6.45pm there's aslickly run eleven-race programme, three races per group, Experts,Seniors/ Juniors and Novices/ Local Beginners, with two Grand FinalDash for Cash' races at the end of the evening for the top 125/250Fand Open Experts on the night.
The circuit, virtually the whole of which can be seen from any onevantage point, also has a full trackside public address system, andkeeping the large crowds - 5,000 spectators turned out for the firstround last year - informed will be top motocross commentator Kenny Kay.
As well as the ten races, there's kids' mini quad bike rides,numerous bouncy castles, good catering facilities, licensed bar, atarmac drive into the circuit with excellent hard parking and permanenttoilets - everything, in fact, for the family to enjoy a good nightsentertainment.
Entry fee is just 5 for adults while children Under 14 free. Cwmythig Hill will be well signposted from Rhayader.
