QUADZILLA is developing a 450 Clubman racer based on its top-selling road legal machine. The Quadzilla 450R road-legal features a 450cc version of the Fuji/ Subaru four-valve, DOHC liquid-cooled motor that Polaris used in its Predator model a couple of years back, and it is well known as a tough and lively motor. The machine is manufactured by Dinli to Quadzilla's specification and it has proved very popular in the growing road-legal quadricycle market.
In de-restricted trim, the 450 is said to have held its own in drag strip tests with the current crop of 450 racers, and although it is heavier, the development programme will concentrate on lightening and widening the machine to improve the handling and performance.
We aren't looking at building a top-spec racer there are more than enough of those, said Quadzilla sales and marketing manager, Henry Maplethorpe.
We are concentrating on developing a reliable clubman all-rounder, which will give good performance and handling for around 4,750. We are also looking at running a Quadzilla 450R Cup series and can promise parts prices that will help to keep racing costs sensible.
Quadzilla is developing the new 450R Clubman racer in association with QUAD Magazine, which will cover the ongoing story starting in the May issue.
