BEC Hafren Enduro cancelled
By TMX Archives on 6th Jul 12
On Friday (July 6) Hafren Dirt Bike Club issued the following statement regarding the cancellation of the Hafren British Enduro Championship round, scheduled for July 14/15.
"It is with great regret that we have had to make the decision to cancel this year's Hafren BEC round scheduled for next weekend, July 14/15. The cancellation is due to the persistent bad weather and weeks of rain we have had, and no sign of a substantial improvement in conditions between now and next weekend.
"The course is totally saturated, with many parts un-rideable, and with the growing environmental pressure we work under with the Forestry Commission we are afraid that any damage caused may jeopardise the long term future of motorcycle events in the area.
"A further issue is that the harvest has not been taken off the fields for the special tests and service areas, again as a result of the wet weather condtions.
"This is not a decision we have taken without a great deal of consideration. We have looked at many different options and potential solutions, none of which proved workable.
"We would like to apologise to all who were planning on attending for any inconvenience caused, we are as disappointed as anybody. All riders entry fees will be refunded less £5 to cover some of the admin fees and the several thousand pounds loss the club will have to stand as a result of such a last minute cancellation.
"We would like to thank Rob Sheldon at Rock Oil North and others who committed their support to the event."
