Motocross

BRAD Anderson notched up yet another two wins in the Pro MX1 class at last weekend's round five of the Wulfsport British Masters Motocross Championship at a windy Landrake, just over the Devon border into Cornwall. It looked like Anderson was going to do the double again by winning the Pro MX2 class, but an unusual crash in race two, after winning the first race handed the overall victory to Neville Bradshaw. After the stifling heat of the week, Saturday was cool with a sea breeze making it seem chilly. A downpour just before the start of the first race of the weekend left the track in ideal condition.

PRO MX1

MARTIN Barr holeshot the first Pro MX1 race, but by the third corner Anderson slipped by and into a lead that no one would challenge. James Noble was third for a while before a crash put him to the back of the pack, his place was taken over by Jim Murro with Jamie Skuse on his tail.

Jordon Rose gated in sixth but by the end of the lap he was right behind Barr, in second with Lloyd Vercueil passing Murro for fourth a lap latter.

At the halfway stage Anderson was doing just enough to hold a decent advantage over Barr as Scott Columb was cutting his way through the pack from tenth at the start and was now closing in on Jamie Lewis for fifth place.

With four laps to go Columb passed Barr for second, but couldn't close the gap on winner Anderson. Barr hung onto third despite coming under pressure from Noble who had made it all the way from almost last after a crash.

Anderson got the holeshot in race two with Barr and Columb in his tracks, but halfway round the lap, Columb found a way to pass Barr taking second place.

With 15-minutes of the race clock gone Columb was doing all he could to hold onto Anderson with Noble in a comfortable third and Vercueil fourth.

Barr had some kind of problem and was dropping back into the chasing pack having been passed by Noble and Vercueil.

Anderson crossed the finish line just over two seconds clear of Columb with Noble some seven seconds back, as Elliot Banks-Brown headed the best of the rest.

PRO MX2

Scott Elderfield got the holeshot at the start of the first MX2 race with Shane Carless and Wayne Smith watching his every move. Anderson was down in tenth with Whatley at the back after a crash.

With a third of the race gone, and Elderfield still in the lead, Smith was in second and Bradshaw was third.

Anderson was now fourth making it a four-way battle for the lead. Bradshaw passed Smith for second at the halfway point, only to slide back to fourth a lap later as the first track got shook up.

With four laps to go Anderson passed his team-mate for the lead and the win by just over a second and a half. Smith and Bradshaw crossed the finish line almost together in third and fourth places. Barr had an up and down race, and finished fifth with team mate Columb just behind in sixth place.

Lassu led the pack into turn one at the start of race two, but as the rest disappeared round the track Noble was seen picking up his machine after a fall. But as they came round to complete the first lap, Banks-Brown was in the lead from Barr, Columb and Anderson.

For three-laps the top four were inseparable with Bradshaw joining the fun on lap two, but it all went wrong for Anderson on the next lap when he was left on the far side of the track trying to kick some life back into his Honda after a crash.

This left Banks-Brown still in the lead from Columb, Bradshaw and Barr, with Carless fifth.

Three-laps from the end Bradshaw took the lead and the win from Banks-Brown, Barr and Elderfield who had stormed up the pack from 21st after a first-lap crash.

IN THE MIX

WITH two wins and two second places, Stephen Tillotson took the Amateur MX1 overall from Alex Smith and Jamie Wilson, while four constant high place finishes gave Scott Mathia the Amateur MX2 overall ahead of Ryan Pottenger.

Aled Bellis and Craig Maddock matched each other race for race in the Amateur MX2R class as they both finished the weekend on the same pointd with Bellis getting the overall due to his higher final race finish.

Paul Neale won three out of his four races to win the Kawasaki Masters class with race four winner, Paul Smith second overall.

Jack Taylor matched Neale's scoring in the MXY2 class, winning three out of four with Matt Burrows second and Liam Wright third overall.

Luke Norris won all four of the Big-wheel 85 races to take the overall, while Callan Cooper did likewise in the Small-wheel 85cc category.
