Drew drew top spot!

Given two days of wall to wall sunshine on the hottest weekend of the year and with 25 pulsating races to savour how could it possibly fail? The simple fact is it didn't, as round three of this year's Express Insurance BYMX series ticked every single box imaginable as it blasted its way through the soft sandy trenches of Mepal near Ely.

The meeting was hosted brilliantly by the local Cambridgeshire club and phew what a scorcher!  The action was quite literally hotter than the weather as the masses gathered on Mepal's sandy banks to take in the craziest and most entertaining weekend's racing anyone had been involved in for years.

We will start with the 65cc brigade, although the Juniors can now be officially labelled the crazy gang. New boy to the BYMX Drew Warren came and laid down the gauntlet down to the regulars with a fantastic overall victory.

Behind Warren all kinds of carnage broke loose as rider after rider found themselves taking a soil sample with no-one putting together a solid set of five races.

Keenan Hird blasted himself to second overall with a glorious final ride from dead last to third. Tied with Hird on day points was Taylor Hammal who picked up the win in heat four. Jamie Osborne was a season's best fourth while star-man for much of the weekend Jake Edey had to be content with fifth despite two race wins. Albie Wilkie still leads the series ahead of Hammal and Hird although he could only manage eighth for the weekend.
