Motocross

ON Sunday, the final round of the 2006 Remedies Bar Motocross Championship took place at Ladram Bay.

A lot of rain had fallen prior to the event but the track was in perfect condition and rode really fast. This produced some of the best racing witnessed in the series this year.

Despite the fact that he'd already clinched the Expert Open crown, there was a hat-trick of wins for David Yelland, though he had to work hard for victory in the first moto. Alex Snow got the hole-shot and held him off until lap nine when he seemed to lose momentum going up one of the hills and Yelland sneaked through on the inside. Snow followed Yelland to the chequered flag in the other two races to notch up three second places.

In Expert 125cc, it went right down to the wire with defending champ, Ben Griffith, leading by just one-point at the start of proceedings from Luke Hill and Andrew Gillett who were tied in second spot.

In the opening race Daniel Preston got a flier off the line from Anthony Swift, but Gillett was there in third and was soon on the move up to second and giving chase.

Hill, who still hasn't fully recovered after breaking his wrist just three weeks earlier, was back in fifth, with Griffith all over him and these two had a real tussle early on. Griffith squeezed by on lap two.

Meanwhile, at the front, Gillett caught Preston and, on lap three, he took the lead on a fast left-hander.

Preston had no reply and Gillett took the win.
