THE recently newly formed Dorset Classic Scramble Club resurrected an old evocative title for its second scramble of the year at Milborne St Andrew, near Blandford Forum, on Sunday.

The 'Clash of the Titans' brings back memories of Roundhouse and Askerswell meetings under that name in recent years, events in which many of the new Club members were involved.

The June meeting had set a high standard by the new Club and this was repeated on Sunday, the revamped first bend eliminating the only real problem at their first event and even the dust was all but absent this time around, resulting in a near perfect days racing.

Practice finished well on time and the slightly lenghtened course of just over a mile again contained long loops which climbed and descended around the natural basin with ample passing places.

The Classic races were over five laps and the Twin-shocks seven, each category having three races to decide the overall winners.

The Classics were first out and right away a titanic struggle developed between Dave Bell and newcomer James Newstead Dave had the choice of Alan Brown's immaculate Metisses as usual and elected to use the Jawa powered version while James Newstead all the way from Diss, was having his third ever classic outing on an ex-Jim Aim 650 Triumph Metisse.
