Wilden's day to Remember
By TMX Archives on 13th Nov 08

ONCE again the masses were attracted to Wilden Lane with over 400 riders turning out for the Remembrance Day Motocross. After some heavy overnight rain the racing conditions were classified as good early in the day for the kick off to the latest round of the Wilden Winter Championships. This however proved to be the calm before the storm as yet another mid-afternoon onslaught from the elements had everyone running for cover and taking an early bath. Conrad Mewse and David Keet again caught the eye at the head of the field in a brace of Junior 65cc races. Conrad secured both race wins but David showed more than enough to suggest he is going to be a real thorn in Conrad's side throughout the winter. Henry Williams finished the day in third place overall with a couple of consistent performances.
Jordan Pyne produced a confident display in Small-wheel 85cc and always had the whip hand. As conditions deteriorated he looked a class apart, romping home with both race wins. In a tight points scrap behind him, Rob Holyoak just got his nose in front of Greg Evans and Jordan Saunders as all three guys looked capable of securing the runners-up spot along with Dan Whitehead who claimed second in race one.
In Big-wheel 85cc, Dan Thornhill was another maximum man as he made light of the conditions and the opposition with a slick display. That's four wins on the bounce now for Dan in the series. Adam Sterry also looked like a man on a mission as he secured the runners-up spot. It was good to see Scott Aldridge back in racing trim and with a little more luck he could have made third place on the podium his own. Luke Newman had a strong race to take third.
In yet another superb display, Joe Jones kept his unbeaten run going in the Open 125cc division. Fourteen races – 14 wins. In the close battle behind him Levi Whiteoak took second with Chris Povey third.
Jordan Thomas on a KTM got away to real a flier in race one of the 250F section, showing more than a little determination and skill all the way to the flag. Christian ‘Turbo' Taylor, out on a four-stroke, looked impressive as he came home in a battling second place followed by Nathan Rooks in third.
In worsening conditions for race two Nathan claimed a gritty race win and the overall winners cash prize. Rich Williams and Liam Wright once again put in tons of
effort with the reward of second and third place overall.
In the Adult Open section Josh Waterman riding the 250cc two-stroke never looked like being beaten all day and with a powerhouse display. He came home in front of Allan Pearce in race one and a resurgent Dan Bough in race two.
